Emergency Assistance (EA) is a place where
clients are able to “shop”, at no cost, for clothing
(including school uniforms), small household items (linens and bedding),
hygiene kits, toys and books in a store-like environment. The store
has a dedicated group of volunteers, who assist clients in finding
what they need and keep the racks ready to shop.
Emergency food assistance is available for families facing an
immediate crisis. In partnership with the local Food Bank, Cumberland
County food stamp recipients are eligible for quarterly distribution
of USDA commodity foods.
Annually, the EA program works with the Salvation
Army in the Annual Christmas Opportunities program. Together
these organizations provided 445 families with Holiday Food Bags
and Gifts of Toys. Other annual drives include the WTVD Heart of
Carolina Food Drive.
“Joseph approached me & said
he had been one of our clients. He wanted to say thank you for all
of our help...and for being nice to him. He said the free clothing
and hygiene kits had helped so much. Now he has a good job and is
getting married next month” |
