Emergency Assistance (EA) is a place where
clients are able to “shop”, at no cost, for clothing
(including school uniforms), small household items (linens and bedding),
hygiene kits, toys and books in a store-like environment. The store
has a dedicated group of volunteers, who assist clients in finding
what they need and keep the racks ready to shop.
Emergency food assistance is available for families facing an
immediate crisis.
Annually, the EA program works with the Salvation
Army in the Christmas Opportunities program. Together
these organizations provided 1000 families with Holiday Food Bags
and Gifts of Toys. Food Drives to support this effort include the WTVD Heart of
Carolina Food Drive, Snyder Mermorial Baptist Church Singing Christmas tree, employees of Cape Fear Valley Health System and employeess of Cumberland County.
“Joseph approached me & said
he had been one of our clients. He wanted to say thank you for all
of our help...and for being nice to him. He said the free clothing
and hygiene kits had helped so much. Now he has a good job and is
getting married next month” |
